Reverse osmosis is a way to clean and purify drinking water. It uses a special membrane with tiny holes in it. And as water goes through that membrane, it blocks molecules and other larger particles. That way only pure, toxin-free water reaches your lips.

RO filters remove a wide range of contaminants, including heavy metals lead and arsenic; chemicals like chlorine and fluoride; PFAS (or "forever chemicals"); microplastics; cysts like bacteria and microorganism; and a whole host of particulates like dirt, salt, and rust.

Now, if you have low water pressure, NU Aqua Reverse Osmosis Systems come with an optional booster pump to accellerate waterflow. And to eliminate certain virsus and microorganisms, NU Aqua Systems have an optional UV-light powered filter. Both of these add-on's will require electricity.

However, these add-on's are necessary for all homes. So with the exception of a select few, RO systems at large require no electricity to operate.
